PEDIPED™ RAISES MORE THAN $110K FOR THE MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION®
HENDERSON, NV. (March 2009) — pediped™ Footwear is thrilled to announce that it more than doubled its 2008 pledge to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. On March 2, a check for $111,621 was presented to David Williams, Make-A-Wish Foundation of America president and chief executive officer.
A little over a year ago, pediped™ partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation with the goal of raising $50,000 for the nonprofit organization throughout 2008. Halfway through the year, it was clear that pediped™ was going to meet that goal; so the bar was raised to aim for $100,000. In December, pediped™ achieved this target, raising enough to grant more than 15 wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
pediped™ Footwear had scheduled four fundraising events for 2008, two with donation matching and two from which it donated 50 percent of the total sales from selected specially priced shoes. Additionally, pediped™ employees became active with Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada, participating in the chapter’s annual 5K run. Team pediped’s™ efforts earned them the William “Bubba” Mazenkas trophy for collecting the largest number of donations.
"We are overjoyed with the results of our efforts in 2008 and have decided to continue the fundraising in 2009,” said Angela Edgeworth, pediped™ President and Co Founder. “It’s not going to be easy given the current economic situation, but we understand that this is when the children need our help more than ever. We will work that much harder to ensure that those who need our help the most can learn to depend on pediped™ footwear.”
pediped™ has extended its partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation through 2009 and will hold several fundraisers in efforts to meet or beat its 2008 performance. Information on current and upcoming fundraisers can be found on www.pediped.com.
