European Standard EN 71-3:1994 (British Standard BS 5665-3:1995) regulates the potential migration of certain elements from toys into the mouths and skin of infants, as tested by extracting the sample into artificial gastric juice. EN 71-3 has become the “Gold Standard” for consumer products intended for use by children.
