pediped™ IS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY IMPROVEMENT ACT OF 2008
January 19, 2009
Re: CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008)
Dear Valued Customers: pediped™ Footwear is aware of this new legislation and is compliant in meeting all the standards required under this new act. We would also like to state that all of our products sold in any of our previous seasons are also compliant with the CPSIA. The general purpose of the new law is to protect the safety of our children.
All of the products produced for the Spring 2009 season were tested by a certified laboratory approved by the CPSC. I want you to know that we take the safety and well-being of children very seriously, and we are confident that all of our footwear—whether it is shipping now, or was shipped in previous seasons—is safe for children.
pediped™ Footwear has been voluntarily testing its own products since 2006, well before the enactment of this new act. All of our products are made with the highest standards of quality and safety. pediped™ has always strongly believed in the safety of all children and as such have self imposed our own stringent testing standards to support this conviction. Our shoes have always been designed to adhere to the British and European Safety Standard for Toys (EN 71-3), which calls for maximum limits for substances such as lead, antimony, arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, mercury, to name a few. EN 71-3 calls for a maximum of 90 ppm for Lead, as does the CPSIA. Our footwear recently tested much lower than this allowable limit, far exceeding the standard requirements as set for by both the European and new U.S. standards. As this law evolves and changes, rest assured that we are actively following up on all new information from the CPSC, and will strive to follow all the rules and requirements of the law. I sincerely hope that this information helps give you confidence in our products. We plan on continuing to make children's footwear that you feel good about buying. Please know that we are here, and will gladly discuss, and will attempt to answer, any questions you might have about this new legislation. We place as much importance on our customer service as we do on our quality.
Thank you for your business and we wish you a happy 2009. Feel free to contact us at customerservice@pediped.com with any questions that you may have.
Sincerely, Angela Edgeworth President pediped™ Footwear
